The Cloud Appreciation SocietyOne of the characters in The Writing Master is compiling a "cloud atlas" -- an idea that was beginning to interest a number of scientists in the mid-19th century. In the course of my investigations, I came across this Britain-based but international organization. As they put it: "At The Cloud Appreciation Society we love clouds, we’re not ashamed to say it and we’ve had enough of people moaning about them. Read our manifesto and see how we are fighting the banality of 'blue-sky thinking'." They feature gorgeous cloud photographs and plenty of cloud information (both useful and arcane), and are, in general, a lovable lot. Their cloud calendars are gorgeous.
